All About Me

Hi and welcome to my blog for EC6106 (Designing Curriculum that Integrates Technology class through Lesley University).

My name is Val Darting. I live in Littleton, CO with my husband, son, and little dog. I have been married for almost 7 years, my son just turned one, and our little toy poodle is 11. Teaching is my passion, though I love to cook, dance, sing, play the flute and piano, walk, and read as well.


I have been teaching since 2004, though I have taken this past year off for maternity leave. I plan to go back to my wonderful school, Blue Heron Elementary, in August and am looking forward to seeing my co-workers and my 5th grade students again! 


Many of us are at the end of our journey at Lesley University! It is hard to believe and so exciting. Congrats to you all! It is such a pleasure to work with each of you, and I am looking forward to all of the knowledge I will gain not only through this course, but also from each of you.

    Hello Val, It is very nice to meet you. My husband and I love to ski. We have been to Colorado a few times. My husband would love to live there. He had an opportunity once, but unfortunately it did not work out. Look forward to working with you.

    I have these two classes and one in summer one before I am finished and I can't believe it! I just started in March 2014. This has flown by. Wow, you got the whole year off? The most a teacher has taken at my school is 3 months. I know you have enjoyed this time with your son though. :)

    Hi Val, looking forward to your work during the course!! Excited that we will finish together, I think we should plan some sort of virtual graduation for ourselves and others who wont' be able to attend!
